Qa trotted along after Kaoru. It seemed like he was always in a hurry to get to his destination. She attempted to not giggle at the birds wobbling oddly on his back.

She scowled at her stomach which was constantly yelling profanities at her as she walked, but luckily, they were quiet enough for Kaoru not to hear. Qa didn't need to bother him anymore. Dragging her along on....wherever they were going....was nice enough.

The chicks cheeped plaintively at him from his back, and the anubite arched his aching wings up as high as they would go, trying to block the sun with an organic canvas of flesh and bone. He picked up speed, running almost without restraint towards the suddenly not-so-distant mountains. Kaoru's gaze switched back to the front just in time to avoid what could have been a costly calamity. He stood by the monstrous wall of homes, panting.

He recovered himself quickly with the grace of an experianced athlete, and took another look up at the tall stack of caves. Carefully he set one black velveteen paw on the scalding hot rock, and with a wince pulled himself up.
