The dark fae paced through the tall grass, paws flattening the blades as if they were nothing. She'd been travelling for days, with no food or water, and was simply exhausted. Cool diamond drops flew slowly at her face, and she raised her normally low head, almost in joy, relishing the refreshing feeling the rain gave her. She continued to pace through to the river bank, and lowered her head again, lapping up the water like there was no tomorrow. For all she knew, there might not be. Lowering herself to the ground, she smiled, a rare thing for her. This was the land she'd been looking for for so long. This was the land she would protect, with her life.

Grim sludged along the path, raindrops rolling down his tilted snout. His black coat hung own, matted and heavy, blowing in the wild winds. He came across a pool and dropped his head for a small drink, staring at his reflection. He looked up to see......another despair! It was a fae, she looked like him, except her eyes were duller. He opened his large maw to speak, "Hello?" he called dully across the water, in hope that she would hear him.

Hello? Immediately, she brought her head up, to face the thing she'd heard. Her fur swayed through the air, as if in slow motion, and settled again. Her dull eyes focused on the dark creature that stood before her. Another Despair! A male of similar colouring to her, with brighter eyes, blue, but still dull. "Hello", she said as she stepped slowly towards him, "Who...who are you?" She wasn't afraid, she couldn't be, she couldn't feel anymore. Closing her shadowed eyes, she felt the breeze againt her heavy head, and tried her hardest to hope for the best, as she waited for his answer.

Grim walked slowly to the very edge of the water, to stare into the eyes of the Despair over the murky looking waters. He closed his eyes and took a cooling breath, he always took time before answering questions. He knew from raw experience, just what one simple mistake could do. Look where he was now. "My calling is of Grim. Will you return with your name?" he asked slowly, gazing into her dull eyes with the crescent moon watching on from overhead.

Sorrow gazed back at him, taking in his every move, his every thought. She waited patiently for his answer, knowing you should never rush another creature, especially one who could hurt you, and not just physically. "Grim" she repeated in her soft, dull voice, and paused again, to stare at the bright crescent moon, cut out from the dark cloudy sky. "I am known as Sorrow" she answered, still staring into the dull eyes of the fellow Despair. "May I ask, why are you here?" she didn't mean to sound cold, but it was hard for her not to, having seen what she had, done what she'd done. The rain pelted harder on her fur as it blew in the wind, and she shivered slightly, but why, she didn't know.

Grim stared back, with his eerie spirit lingering on the verge of his body. "Sorrow..." he said slowly, repeating the name as she had. The moon's light bounded off each raindrop, though somehow the place stayed darkened. He thought of her question, chewing it over in his mind. "I am here." he continued thinking, "I am here for a home. If I am able to make one in these lands." and still he thought on, "If it's okay with you, for I can hardly stay with those filthy Barghests or humpback Crocottas." he made a small grunting noise and shook his head, as close to a laugh as he could get.

His Barghest remark amused her, though she didn't laugh, and she nodded in agreement. "This land is as much yours as it is mine" she answered, quicker this time, she didn't have to think about it. "Can't have you staying with those...things." Sorrow watched the sparkling drops dance in the air, joyous, then suddenly smash into a million pieces of the cold, hard ground. My life in a raindrop she muttered. She turned her head back to face Grim, and said "Do as you wish on these lands. Not far away are the Dig-outs, rest there if you wish. The woods are slightly closer, a dreary place, perfect in my opinion. I imagine that will be the main place for us Despairs....eventually." She turned to leave, but stopped, unsure of why she felt so strange, and shook herself slightly, but nothing happened.

"Thanks" he said, with a small nod of his head. "I'm not sure...." he pondered on his thoughts for a minute, "I'm not too sure....what I could do around here." he looked around in a painfully slow and depressing manner, before turning back to Sorrow. "Maybe you would.....maybe you would stay with me?" he said, hightening his voice as high as it could go - not high - in slight hope. He didn't much fancy just sitting around, or even sleeping in the dig-outs. He was feeling surprisingly active.

Sorrow was surprised by what he said, but only mildly. She was more, well, maybe, more happy to hear this than anything. She hadn't been in anyone's company for so long, let alone in a friend's. She raised her head to answer "Of course you may stay with me. It's been so long since I had, well, a friend. It would be my pleasure to have you around." She turned back round once again, and tried her best to smile, but failed. Instead, she nodded again, and hoped he'd understand. "So, what do we do?"

[TOO lazy to switch right now, ] Grim lowered his head in yet another slow nod, returning her thoughtful gesture. "Thankyou..." he said, letting his sentence trail off. He didn't know what to do really - it would require much extra thought than a normal sentence. He sat down to think, letting his head hang to look down at his reflection. "Maybe...." he started to form a thought, "Maybe to swim....?" he asked, with an ever thoughtful expression on his face. It was a long time since he had swum, he had forgotten what the water felt like against his skin, and in his fur. He hadn't even bathed for several years.

[lol, s'ok]
"Swimming" she repeated again, pondering the thought. She hadn't been swimming in so long....it would certainly be refreshing after her journey, and parhaps it would..bring back some memories. She stared into his puddle, and saw both their reflections, side by side, so alike, yet different in a way. "Swimming it is then, if I can remember how" she gave a small grunt, singnifying a laugh, and continued to stare at the puddle. "Shall we?" she asked, as she made her way to the cold, murky waters, doing her best to hope for safety.

A black despair walked through a hollow quietly, making no sound. He sniffed the air.He had had a bad conflict with manen wolves and pondered over it. Meanwhile,he noticed a pair of despairs swimming through some murky water. He ran and plunged in joyfully, sending muddy water over the other two. "Hello, fellow despairs."

[ Do you mean these two despairs?]
Sorrow shook the muddy water from her now drenched fur. Her and Grim exchanged looks and gave a puzzled look to the new despair. Grim was quiet towards the other despair, he had come so suddenly. He did not seem like a normal despair, too active, joyful, to be one like them. "Who are you" Sorrow said firmly. She thought that the despair was not one to be acompaning her and Grim. Something did not feel right about this despair, he did not feel whole. The rain pelted her already drenched fur, and she again repeated "Who are you" to the silent black despair.
