It was hot.
Hellishly hot, in fact -- but this was nothing new to Alaska. While he was used to the cold winds of his homeland, he had also gotten used to Demona's scorching temperature. He had spent days and days in this place, and his horns were fully out of his head. A formidable looking wolf, in his own eyes, but he was not reassured by his brother Shift's sarcasm. But now he was sunning himself alone, while Shift was out...somewhere...doing something. Alaska himself had forgotten, and his brother had probably gotten lost. But he had fangs to defend himself with, and sharp claws.
Now where were the other 'pups'? He had lost track of them all, and they were all so grown up now. Except for that idiot Colt -- lost out in the Glacier, probably frozen to death by now. His brother had left at least a week ago, when he said he would be back soon. When is soon? Alaska growled to himself. That stupid dork should be back by now. But calling his brother a dork wouldn't bring him back from the cold tundra of the Glacier, would it.
KIYYOOOO :D Time for Aerokone-ness? ;) Shift will come in a bit later.

The wolf's powerful wings flapped; carrying him through the frigid air. Vividly blue eyes stood out in the plain brindled gray face; the wolf was definitely an adult but nowhere near his prime. The forelegs were slim and tipped in sharp, matte claws. A long, narrow maw was numb to the wolf, who was not particularly comfortable in such cold temperatures. His brother would be: somehow Yoko had always been able to cope with the cold. It was ironic, since their birthplace was snowy and mountainous and barren. The wolf shivered in mid-air; missing a beat and dropping several feet. It was then that a jagged rip in the cloud cover showed a lone wolf on the ground. Interested, the male turned clumsily as his joints were so stiff, and began a mellow descent through the clouds. He knew that beneath them, the temperatures would rise. What made Demona so awful was the intense temperatures both above the cloud cover and below.
He shuddered again as he emerged, water droplets freezing on his fur and wings. Aero steepened his descent; eager to get to the ground. As the mystery wolf drew closer Aerokone noticed something familiar but untraceable about it. The ground rose up hard and fast and Aero's knees buckled slightly but held. The strong wave of heat customary to Demona assaulted the wolf, who was happy at the contact. Panting, the lithe wolf lifted up his head and looked at the other wolf. Harks switched back and maw dropped open in surprise.
You.
The wolf straightened up, closed his paw, and ticked his head to the side. I remember you. Aero's bright blue eyes did a quick circuit of the other; taking in the considerable changes. The other wolf had been a puppy when he had last seen him; he was now large and showing muscle mass. He also had thick, warm fur. Aero eyed this last part enviously. Alaska had blue eyes, like Aero, but they were more washed out. More like the little flowers that Aero remembered fondly from his old home.
What the %&@* are you doing here. Aero asked bluntly. His personality had not changed at all with age.

Soon enough there was another wolf in front of him -- fallen from the sky. But this was no angel, this was the wolf he remembered as a pup, only now he was big and had wings. Who cares, Alaska thought. I'm big, too. 'Pears I live here, or I have for a while at least, he snarled, rising to his paws. If Aerokone wanted a fight, he would be going up against a formidable opponent. Alaska had not changed much in manners, either -- still rude as ever to those he didn't like, or didn't know. So it was hard to get to know him without putting up with his insults. Why, you got a problem with that? 'Cause we both got here 'round the same time, and we en't gonna get out 'less we -- these next words made him want to be sick -- work together. Now my brother Shift's comin' back soon, and Colt...well, he better be back by next week, or I'm takin' you with me to the Glacier to find him, just so you can go through those colds same as me.
Alaska snarled and flopped back down. Where were those damn brothers of his?

Aerokone snarled. Oh yeah! Oh yeah?! I dare you to try! Go ahead and try! He puffed out his lean chest, a red gem cased with silver. A red stud shone dully in his left ear, a hoop of the same tarnished silver holding it in place. I could beat the shit out of you if I felt like it! Only he didn't. Aero eyed the other with open and obvious hostility. Only, beneath that Aero was a little confused. Alaska had gotten kind of . . . no.
Well, we better work together. Aero said loftily, like it was the last thing he wanted to do. Actually he was more than a little curious about who the puppy had become since they last met.
My brother is off wandering in the Glacier too. Probably gonna get beat up by some creep. Aero said offhandedly, hoping that was what would happen. Yoko disgusted him. The gay freak. He, Aero, was undoubtedly straight. Like a river, or a tree, or something. Not including dead trees or loopy rivers. Damn.

Alaska snarled as Aerokone spoke. The nerve of that little...no, no. Don't get too mean here, boy. You would really wish that on your own brother? he growled. He could never think of Colt or Shift being harmed! But then again, he had thought of himself harming Colt...but only when the kid frustrated him!
Alaska sighed. At least they had something in common -- they were alone.

Aero shrugged, trying not to look ashamed. He said things without thinking, without considering. He did care about Yoko . . . he just wished his younger brother would change for the better, and become more masculine. "Make life easier and stop being gay" were the last words Aero remembered saying to him.
Of course he wasn't going to tell Alaska that.
He's a gay faggot. Aerokone said, glaring at the other wolf. Wasn't that a sin? Looking for male company? It should be. That was what mother said, and father said, and the fortune teller said, and the alpha said. Everyone at Ribeyako had emphasized it. It was Aero's fault Yoko had gone queer in the first place. He should have protected him more . . .
. . .Aero noticed that Alaska was quite handsome . . .
What do your brothers look like, now? Aero asked, a little flustered. I haven't seen them since we were all little. He thought that he and Alaska were about the same height. Aero was tall; Yoko was taller. But Aero was more built, more lean and more muscular. Even if he wasn't bulky he could still show strength in his lean frame.
sorry about Aero's vocabulary D: he's really foul-mouthed and kind of astonishing sometimes T__T;;
