The once-white fem picked her way carefully through the swamp, prodding the wet, mucky ground with her paws every few steps to make sure that it wouldn't give way under her weight. Her coat was covered in swamp water and wet, slimy mud as the result of a careless step or two that had sent her tumbling and cursing into the murky green water.
The lead gray clouds that hung heavily across the desolate sky threatened to burst any minute. It was unbearably hot and humid in the swamp and the only thing that kept the exhausted fem going was the need for shelter. Thunder rumbled ominously in the distance as the first few drops of warm rain fell from the sky...

ooc: there are no posts on this whole board, which leads me to assume that the leaders are gone. Hope you don't mind me rping here.
Radical delicately took each step toward dry land. He was looking down at his algae covered paws and ran into the fem. "Oh, sorry," he mumbled, embarrassed. He was about to shuffle past, but her beauty shown even past the muck in the swamp. Radical had never been dumbfounded this way before. He had always thought himself too good for the other wolves. Suddenly he felt humble. "Um, do you need any help getting out of here? I've been this way before." He pointed his nose to the shore.

Blanche looked up in surprise at the wolf who had just bumped into her. She hadn't expected to find anyone else here- after all, she couldn't catch even the stale scent of anyone who might have lived here before.
"It's okay," she mumbled to the brute, barely even glancing up at him. She didn't know exactly what to say and was somewhat embarrased at how dirty she was. "It'd be nice if you could show me the way out of here."

"Here.. um, follow me." he said, picking his way expertly through the swamp. Radical was glad he had something to do. He didn't know of anything he could say to the fem. So he just started talking about himself. "I've lived here as long as I can remember. If you couldn't smell me, it's because... I smell almost exactly like the swamp." A wide grin spread across his face. "So, um, what about you? I mean, if you want to tell me." he asked awkwardly.

"I'm not from around here," Blanche replied, meeting the brute's gaze for the first time. As she padded alongside him, her tongue lolled out, exposing her sharp, pearlen fangs. Her coat was soaked and dripping from the rain, which only made the heat more unbearable. She felt awkward around this wolf and had no idea what to say to him.
"I'm sorry for not introducing myself earlier, my name is Blanche. I, um... am not very good at talking to strangers... not that I think you're a stranger in a frightening kind of way... it's just that I've only met you a few minutes ago..." Damn it, I've really messed this up. "Sorry about that," she said shakily, trying to preserve what was left of her dignity. "Sometimes I just don't know what to say..."

Radical laughed. "I know what you mean," he said, meeting her gaze. "Which reminds me, you can call me Radical." He felt somewhat more comfortable now. Radical now trotted along without looking at his feet, they were very close to the shore.
. . .
"Kay, we're here." he barked with sadness in his voice. He didn't want to leave Blanche yet. He shifted his weight back and forth in awkwardness.

ooc: Been gone so long! Sorry. D= I also apologize for the crappy post. Blanche quickened her pace in an attempt to keep up with Radical while searching her brain for any excuse that would make him stay with her longer.
"Is there anywhere to rest nearby? Walking through this swamp is tiring..."

"You could stay here... I mean, if you wanted to, I've claimed this place." Even though he was leader, Radical still felt nervous around the fem. He pawed the ground awkwardly, then made a bold move. "You could be my alpha female... I mean, if you wanted to. I know I've only been with you for a little while, but I feel like you're something really special. I hope you feel the same way." he blurted, so fast it was almost not understandable. If a wolf could be blushing, the brute would be red from his ears to his tail... which he already was, anyway :P

He's the alpha? It was her turn to blush now, but unlike Radical, it showed up clearly against her brindled white pelt. Blanche looked at the gray clouds streaking across the sky, as if to somehow gain inspiration. She couldn't remember ever being this nervous before.
" I...um... feel the same way about you, Radical... I'd be happy to be your mate... it's just that I don't think I'd make a very good alphess..."

Radical hoped she wasn't just saying that... "If you don't want to, it's OK," he repeated, "I think you'd make a good one, though." He managed a smile.

Blanche grinned, quite possibly for the very first time around a stranger. She had never felt so comfortable around anyone else before- except her family, of course... Pushing the homesickness out of her mind, she decided she would concentate on being happy here.
"Really? That's nice of you... I'd love to be your mate. Is anyone else living in this land?"

Radical could not hold back a toothy grin. If a human was watching they would think he was baring his teeth; a wolf could tell the difference. "Three pups." he barked. The low number and the fact that they were little pups couldn't even dampen his spirits.

Blanche wagged her tail good-naturedly. She was fond of pups-they were so sweet and cuddly. They were also a lot easier to interact with than adults, she felt.
A seemingly random question suddenly popped into her mind. "Radical, do you have any siblings? I'm sorry if it feels like I'm prying, I'm just curious..." As the words drifted off her tongue, Blanche thought of her brother, and a faint pang of longing filled her insides. I wonder what he's up to now...

ooc: sorry for the delay ):
"I have a sister. She was always independent, never really wanted to live in a pack. I guess she's out there somewhere." If a wolf could shrug, Radical did. His relationship with his sister had not been strong. He longed for her to play with him as a pup, but she always wanted to go out and explore. Without him. He felt no attachment to her.
