Lar and Lis huddled together and watched the sunset. Lar whimpered for her parents, a low, quite, sad whimper. They had been killed in a fight with a bobcat. "They were my parents and now I'll never see them agian" She softly whispered. "Thats how I felt, Yu'know when my parents passed away" Lis said. His leg, or what was left of it, throbbed with pain. It had been bitten off by the bobcat that had killed Lar's parents, and had bled terribly. It wasn't bleeding anymore but it still hurt like no other pain he had felt. Now he had to be brave. He was brave when his mom had died giving birth, he was brave when he dad was eaten by a bear. He was even brave when he was alone, starving, and collapsing with dehydration. But this was different and now he had to try harder than ever.

Radical had been walking down the mucky shore of the swamp, thinking about Blanche, when he saw the two pups. They concerned him immediately; pups that young should always be in a pack, or they risked being eaten by a larger creature. Radical reached them and then barked, "I'm Radical." he wagged his tail. "You guys need a place to stay?" He looked at the darkening sky and knew it would rain. He slept under a tree with the biggest and most covering leaves, and he was willing to share with the two. The red brute eyed one of the pup's mutilated leg and asked, "Hurt much? I can get you something for it." Radical was no healer, but living by the swamp's interesting plants had taught him a few things.

'Yes!" Lar said as she looked up at this brute. He was big. And that was what Lis was afraid of. As nice as Radical seemed Lis knew always to be wary of other manens. Though still this one didn't seem dangerous at all. "Yeah it hurts a lot, thanks though"

Radical pulled an oval leaf from a nearby tree with his jaws. He stuck it onto the bottom of Lis' stub. Radical had used it many times on deep gashes in his sides and on his paws; he knew it would dull the pup's pain. He felt a drop hit his black nose, "This tree," he barked, swinging his nose toward a tree with huge leaves, "will protect you from the rain." He settled himself down at the edge of it; he knew the pups were still wary of him. He beckoned them to come.
The rain drops plopped into the water without a sound.

"Ugg, I hate rain"Lar said with a deep pain in her chest "It reminds me of mom" Mom, The name hurt Lis and Lar deeply.
"Uh, Thanks for the leaf. By the way where are you from?"Lis was still curious of Radical.

Radical almost laughed at how forward the young pup was. "I'm from.. not from here. My mom was a loner, just like I am today." Truthfully, Radical had travel to the Urubujenos Tribe in the hopes of claiming it. No one had really passed through these parts to become a pack member. Plus, his title was unofficial, no one had confirmed that the place was unowned. "I'm sorry," he barked to Lar, frowning at the rain. "But really, rain is the base of our existence. It makes the grass green so our prey can get fat and plump eating it." He smiled, "Speaking of which, I bet you guys want something to eat. Just stay under the tree while I catch something."
. . .
Radical trotted back, a big rabbit dangling in his mouth.

SORRY! It's been a while.
"I guess your right" Lar replied licking her lips at the sight of the rabbit.
A loner, kinda what they were. "Do you live here?" Lis asked "Were not, Well I don't even know where we are from" Lis sighed "We just left after the fight"

"Yeah, I live here. I guess I wouldn't be a loner if I had some pack members. You see, I've claimed this place. If you guys need a place to call home, you're welcome to stay here." Radical had been waiting for this moment an awful long time. Now he only had to wait for their answer.

Radical beamed proudly at his first two members. "As long as you promise to stay loyal, you are always welcome here."
The leader walked away, his red coat shining in the sun.
