Tell me how you've never felt Delicate or innocent Do you still have doubts that Us having faith make any sense
Tell me nothing ever counts Lashing out or breaking down Still somebody loses 'cause There's no way to turn around
Never felt so lonely I Wish that you could show me love. . . He watched his creation dance half-lidded, silver-bright eyes. The moon watched blindly, her plump white face nestled amidst folds of regal star-studded robes. Tonight's gown was decorated with dark stormclouds, and the ground with their tears. Rain pattered on the ground about a wolf who did not notice. Topaz's eyes were locked on a small, glowing mouse. The creature was formed of water, and was happily splashing about in the rain.
Water slid down Topaz's already sodden fur, slicking it down further. He was a petite wolf, short, slight and without the muscle tone appropriate for a male wolf. His wings were slightly stunted, though it would be difficult to tell with them folded on his back as they were. His chocolate brown fur was turned a darker shade and it only made the wolf stand out more against the landscape. It might have been cloudy, but the little puddle he was sitting beside was surrounded by weeping willows. The tendrils of the one Topaz sat beneath dripped on him frequently, but the wolf didn't shiver. He had too much self control.
"You can't stay any longer." His voice was soft and just a bit anguished. Topaz felt the moonlight in the mouse running out. Suddenly, he reached out for it, as though to save it--and then the small animal collapsed with a splash back to the ground. In unexpected pain, it's creator hung his head and whimpered, carving at the ground with an extended claw.
"Not fair." He whispered to himself, watching the faint silhouette of light fade from around the mouse's last position. Not interested in his surroundings, the wolf languidly sloped around the willow trees before finally puttering to a halt underneath one. He couldn't see very far in the moonless gloom---the clouds had thickened---and chose to set down beneath the gray-white tree. Topaz's eyes were fully open and glowing slightly, the purple irises shining faintly. Random act of mindlessness Commonplace occurrences Chances and surprises Another state of consciousness

There was a light glow ahead of him, barely visible against the brightness of the moon, soon to be covered up completely by the misty blanket of clouds that threatened to swallow the moon whole. Laying in the middle of a large patch of rain-covered grass was a large, red dog. No, it was a wolf. It's hard to imagine that manens would get that big, but it was only muscle, rippling against his deep colored fur. Upon seeing the mysterious glow, he raised his head, dark ears standing erect on his head, above wondering brown eyes. His whole body was at least three shades darker from the defective umbrella of a tree, but the glow colored him a near white color, and half asleep, the brute stood with strong legs and folded wings, pushing his front leg forward. It was only when he was half-asleep did his legs realize what a heavy burden carrying his massive body was. His paws looked to be squishing into the light soil rather than across it. There was no reason for him being so large.
But he was. So, whatever.
The brute neared the corner where the glow erupted into the darkness behind this rock, and he peered his cautious head around this boulder, just enough time to hear a melodic voice speak through the rain and the glow to disappear. Berlin watched a little longer, the other manen carelessly heading over to lay underneath a willow tree. Confused, Berlin lowered an eyebrow and looked to the lake, watching for the glow to come back. He was a fool for thinking that it was the lake rather than the manen and his gold bracelet, but Berlin realized this as soon as he'd looked back over to the other wolf. He looked so peaceful over there, laying, almost looking discarded against the rain. Berlin didn't notice he looked worried until he felt it on himself. Shaking his head, the great brute took one step back and then breathed before he walked out in front of the massive rock and made himself known.
His white and tan paws caressed the dirt, assuming that the other manen was sleeping. He walked carefully over to the lake and lowered his massive head, stretching his wings over the water as he got there. Puddles of water slid off the backs, the fur on his wings was almost like a duck's feathers. The water rolled off of him like the droplets on plastic, though to the touch he was ragged and his body was well worn into, only the undercoat remained soft as a puppy.
His pink tongue was almost invisible in the darkness, his tan muzzle dipped into the water. He silently lapped up the cool liquid, creating rings around his nose like he was breathing into it. It had been a while since he'd actually had something to drink, finding the Scribes by accident only a few days ago. He wasn't aware of the prey that lay around this place, and had decided to use his thick fur to say he'd been eating well, rather than too lost to really eat anything. Berlin's thoughts lead him to look up at the moon, something he often did while thinking. Brown eyes glowed yellow in contrast, when he finally began to notice all the colors in the world.
The moon was white. Berlin was red. This stranger, he seemed gray. -- i saw that day lost my mind

are we in space? do we belong? someplace where no one calls it wrong and like the stars we burn away the miles Topaz allowed his lamps to lazily sweep over the dark, melting landscape. High above him, the unreachable and changing moon continued to keep her face to the earth; to the willows by the lake. Her robe seemed to swirl around her all-encompassing being, an illusion nurtured by the swirling clouds and twinkling, inconsistent stars. Rain continued to patter down on the small wolf, soaking through his pampered fur. He had lived a life of comfort always, for as long as he could remember. For far longer than he liked to recognize, there had been no one in his life. No friends, no family, no lover, no completion. But the wolf had never fallen into neglect, never permanently.
A droplet of water grew plump on a dipping limb above him, and fell to further wet the wolf. He closed his eyes, shutting off the slight glow. A single tear, passing as rain, slid down the canine's warm cheek fur. Purple eyes slid open again, and narrowed in angry concentration. The sticks and mud in front of his snout swirled slowly upwards in a faintly glowing spiral, then collapsed back to earth. Was there nothing he could do? Was he so uselessly, so utterly spent?
It was not that Topaz had heard the other wolf, his ears were not that good. He had not seen him either, being so preoccupied with trying to raise a doppelganger. It was the wolf's mild psychic ability that brought red's presence to his attention. At first, he just didn't care--but then the wolf turned his head without lifting it, watching the other wolf drink with a blank, expressionless slate of a face. When the stranger looked up at the moon, Topaz followed suit and watched the glowing sphere. Nothing was perfect, that was the world's motto.
But then, the moon was otherworldly. Suspended in the sky, hanging between the mortal world and whatever lay beyond. The queen, the king, the guard, the watcher. Absently, Topaz wondered if the moon was ever lonely. The cold surrounding him finally impacted the wolf and he shuddered, looking away from the moon and back to the stranger. Red fur, but not too red. Still natural, still becoming. Topaz watched, waited. are we in love? do we deserve to bear the shame of this whole world? and like the night we camouflage denial

The great red wolf could feel the stranger's purple orbs on his turned back. The rays felt weary and exhausted against his sandy brambled back, the rain had dampened his fur to look like a desert massacre where the dying grew merciless wings that shared the blood and sand of their bodies. Berlin closed his red-lidded eyes and smiled, blowing out a puff of visible air from his nose. The water over his snout shifted and flew off, falling to the floor as if his nose were raining as well. The expression on the great brute's face was as happy as it was relaxed. An exhausted smile, dragging down his features slightly, even though his lips curved upwards. This rain was making him insanely heavy and it was pushing at his nerves the more Berlin sat in the open near this great puddle. He felt his legs tense as his mind thought about standing up and walking over to sit next to the other manen and his beautiful eyes, but he quickly withdrew the thought of it as the black of his pupils ran across the manen looking straight at him.
Well, as long as they were looking at each other he might as well ask something.
But just to be safe, Berlin opened his eyes to a half-lidded state and stared straight at the other manen for at least ten seconds before he closed his orbs back up and turned his head away. He felt his smile dissolve into the exhausted state of his face, withering away and fading to a more serious look. Berlin stood with his heavy wings and tired paws, not turning to face the stranger right away. He felt his voice momentarily rumble at his chest, inaudible, but it suggested an unheard question. It was tossed out, discarded the moment Berlin heard his own words. They appeared to brighten the moon and split the rain with their sudden loudness. Like bombs.
He turned to the other and looked into his purple irises. Would it be too much trouble? Berlin made it apparent that he wanted to sit next to the other manen with his nose motioning to the emptyness next to the stranger and Berlin's honest brown eyes still on the other's face. He forced another exhausted smile and shook himself off, stretching his wings and sending what looked to be gallons of water jumping off of Berlin's shaking body. He sincerely didin't want to make the other wolf wet by shaking himself off next to him, but in the rain the shaking was still so very unnessesary. He would only get wet again. --

no search. no love, no regrets and no sleep. never anywhere "No." He replied shortly after the other wolf made the request, not too soon, and maybe a little late . . . but Topaz was tired. "Not at all." A singular selfish thought flitted across the wolf's mind. Shelter much? But no, that was rude. It was very rude to think of others as objects. The wolf slumped down a bit, his eyes purple slits. If he wasn't physically exhausted, then his emotions were stretched to the breaking point. The rough-and-tumble appearance of the other wolf suggested that he was perhaps just the opposite. A taxed mind and a taxed body, two halves of a singularly familiar world. But Topaz could care less about feeling pain. He had learned, over the years, to block it out and now the dull throb on the inside of his throat barely affected him.
The night had been more or less calm, so the chill wind was a bit of a surprise. It was more of a breeze, really; too gentle to be called a wind. But it's touch was like ice on his wet fur and the wolf shivered under the biting caresses. He shook his head a little, and several droplets of water flew off the ends of his dark brown fur. Tired, hazy eyes sent purple beams through the misting rain, and killed the lights whenever said eyes slid shut. After several long moments of contemplating the colorless, clear rain Topaz looked again to the other wolf. "It isn't worth shaking off. The tree is leaking." He smiled for the first time, it was a very tired expression. Being such a deep thinker as he was, Topaz in his everlasting wisdom had skipped sleep for the past couple of nights. The ulterior motive behind such a starvation? Zilch. It just made his loneliness easier to handle. "C'mon, sit. It is drier than out in the open, at least." The wolf shunted himself up a little, but refused to sit up completely. His wings were furled tightly on his slender back, the primaries were the only thing shedding water on the wolf. He seemed to just soak it up like some small, furry sponge. no one to start. not together. and kill. watered-down dreams. not yours. not mine.

The red brute smiled, relieved of the kindness that the other manen was giving him. He had to admit, Berlin had judged this book by it's cover. He was expecting no reply at all, maybe a sigh, and then for this other wolf to turn his head away and stare at the tree trunk behind him. This was unexpected, and the red brute was probably more relieved then he should've been. He smiled and closed his eyes, his red head hanging below his shoulders. For a moment, Berlin breathed in the cool scent of the rain, closing his kind, brown eyes for a moment before he continued his walking. The words of the other manen made him chuckle, a warm noise. It was almost invisible to the ears, yet it could still be heard over the crashing of the rain. With heavy wings, Berlin trotted forward, feeling almost dissolving grass underneath his paws. The rain was coming down harder than earlier, and it was pretty obvious with the splashing of it on the pool of water behind him. His wide cream strides were quick to get out of the rain, and he ducked his head under a crawling willow branch to enter the 'dry' company of the other manen.
Upon entering, he smiled and sighed, his stained copper eyes flickering to the stranger before wandering back out to view the clouded sky and the glowing moon. He noticed the moon's transparent eyes against her pale, white face. She looked to be smiling at the pair of wolves underneath the leaking willow tree, and might've been laughing at their completely wet, exhausted state. It was of course, the middle of the night. Berlin can't remember the last time he had a nice, long peaceful sleep without being interrupted by the constant noises of prey he wasn't accustomed to. He would often wake up and wander around to a near-peaceful area until something else woke him up.
The rain pattering outside made him sleepier than he'd expected.

Stare at myself in the mirror, Take me apart piece by piece. Put in work, more than was deserved. When it was over did I end up hurt? Topaz watched the wolf enter into the little shelter created by the boughs of the willow. Despite the name given it, the shelter really did very little to shield the wolves from the wet climate. Scant but much more than nothing--Topaz refused to be anything but grateful. He looked up at the tree, eyes casting pale beams over the bone-white branches. A sad little smile quirked his lip. Weeping willow, huh? Well, the tree was living up to that title. . .
The feeling he should be giving the stranger attention of some sort filled Topaz with awkwardness, and he turned to look with a mild sense of curiosity at the other canine. He was big. No, he was huge. Much taller, more muscular than Topaz who more closely resembled a wolf than some massive man-bred hound. But there really could be no doubt that this other was a wolf, could there? His scent was unmistakable--fresh, rough. No dog had that wild undertone to them, no matter how long they had lived with wolves.
He watched the other wolf for several moments without saying a thing. His expression was unreadable, though something in his eyes made him look. . . young, gentle, defenseless. Pained. Topaz spoke, and when he did his voice was soft and a little hoarse but loud enough to hear over the steady pitter-patter of the rain. "Red, you'll get wet over there." He didn't address the fact that the other was already wet, and that he was by the roots of the tree, the most sheltered area, and absolutely soaked. Obviously there was no real point to the statement, rather Topaz had made it to break the silence. His purple lamps burned into the other wolf, soaking him in like the water steadily dripping onto his back. He could feel the wetness slipping through his fur, warming next to his clammy skin.
Who am I living for? Is this my limit? Can I endure some more?

A sigh escaped Berlin's mouth, opening it and letting the fogged air dance from his fanged mouth. He wasn't smiling like he used to be, moments before, but he had an exhausted, almost depressed look to him. It wasn't that the large red brute didn't love the rain, it was only the fact that the feeling of cold fingers against the wolf's warm red fur made him shiver, and remind him that he was alone. It seemed that every time this happened, though, there was always someone new he came across. Chocolate optics drained themselves down to the edge of his eye, looking at the purple orbs of his company. This wolf was one of the most interesting he'd seen in a while. No other manen's eyes seemed to glow like his did. It astounded him, to say the least, but he said nothing to avoid the possibility of embarrassing him or insulting him.
He raised his head back upwards, back to the outside, the dreary coldness that was summer rain, coffee stains of irises seemed lighter now that he was aware of his company once more.
"Red, you'll get wet over there." Hn? His head turned over to the other manen, and then up, facing the stars. A single drop of rain fell towards him from the sky and splashed on the end of his nose. The large red brute squinted at impact and shook his head using small swiping movements very quickly for a few seconds. There was a small puff of laughter from his smirking maw, and his head turned to the side, back to the brindled stranger. It's...uh.. Talking in the silence, Berlin seemed to run into walls as his words traveled from his brain to his mouth. It's Berlin. A slight loving rumble was in his chest as he spoke his name and gave a small smile, a perfect smile. -- when i do wrong i am with god, she thought when i feel lost i am not at all

"Oh." He murmured softly, watching the wolf with big, glowing eyes. After some hesitation the wolf replied, a little louder than before. "I'm Topaz." He pushed himself up, shivering as the chilled water beneath his fur shifted and rolled in droplets to the ground. The wolf's eyes seemed to dim a bit, then more, and then the glow was extinguished and a pair of ordinary wisteria-purple eyes were surveying Berlin.
Topaz shunted himself up further until he was on all fours, standing oddly as water dripped from his belly and feathered legs. He was a slim wolf, petite without being pathetically undersized. There was some muscle on him, but it was camouflaged by his pelt, which was tangled by the rain. In any case there was no great amount, as the brute was rather slender, feminine.
Swinging his legs in a vaguely odd manner (the water made moving uncomfortable), the wolf walked over to Berlin. It wasn't until he was almost abreast the larger wolf that Topaz paused, arching his neck back to look up at the night sky.
"Too bad it's monsoon season, or there would be more sky to look at." He murmured, swinging his face back to eye level and smiling a little. "You aren't from around here, are you?" Of course he wasn't, or Topaz would have seen him. . . but this way seemed more polite.

Berlin managed a freezing smile at the manen and he slightly dipped his head. he watched the movements of Topaz a while longer before looking out towards the sky. there was a brief flash of lightening that spit itself across the dark clouds, perking Berlin's red ears. it seemed that while that flash was going off, the moon slid underneath the blackness like she preferred hiding rather than watching the two other wolves shiver together underneath a leaking celing. she was better off. it was like watching the grass grow, silent, and slightly awkward. Berlin lay his ears back on his head.
more lyrics rubbed themselves up against the side of Berlin's drying face, and his eyes wandered over to Topaz, though he didn't move. as a reaction to the small talk that wafted in the air like a fog, he smiled and slightly nodded his head, looking back and listening to the low growls of thunder in the distance. the rest of Topaz's sentence was said, and it took a while for Berlin to get the right words. he looked down at his massive paws with blinded chocolate eyes and he said, "no.." the rest of the word was drizzled away in his voice before he caught his emotions and raised his audits.
"no, i'm not." this time there was a smile, and he raised his head back up, "but i take it you've been here for a while? you seem to know the seasons well." what a stupid answer. --
