Yeah... Qa agreed, attempting to make out any trees or rocks ahead. A full moon would be really nice right now. She smiled and looked to where she heard Kaoru's voice last. The fireflies seemed to be moving in a different direction.
Maybe we should just go back? Qa turned her winter bodes the opposite direction she was facing and stood idly looking for any sign of familiarity on the path they were on...where ever that was.

OOC:: ahh sosorryforbeingsuchalazyposterlosttrackoftimeaahaah -wham wham wham- x_X;; -bowforgiveness- ^^;; Kaoru shrugged indifferently, confident that Qadesh could barely make out the gesture in the blackness. His pale eyes moved over the dimly lit landscape, but jerked back suddenly to Qa's face at her second statement. I don't think so. It can't be so far away can it? If you want to go back, though, we will. He was used to being a leader and being obeyed, but the anubite didn't want to order Qa about. It just wasn't polite.

Is'k ♥ I has a hint of writer's block so it's good for Lemoney ^ ^ Qadesh paused, then turned back around. She trotted lightly ahead a few steps, lifting her head slightly and inhaling to see if she could get a scent of some food or something. You're right. We should keep looking. Maybe we could find some food to take back to your birds...or something to carry water in?
Qa lowered her head to the ground and smelled what she believed to be grass...but taking a few steps further she tripped into a small puddle. Her body was completely motionless for a few minutes, embarrassed. She was wet, and her face felt like it was covered in dirt and mud. Her paws were underneath her body in an uncomfortable position, and her back legs were strait behind her.
Ow. She grunted, pushing upwards and shaking herself off.

The other anubite was stepping forward gingerly, feeling for rocks. A loud splat drew his attention away, and the black canine froze. Pale eyes looked around for the white form of Qadesh, found a figure sprawled in a muddy puddle. He was extra careful to avoid rocks (and puddles) on the way over to see if she was alright.
She climbed up and very nearly cracked the bottom of her head on his chin, missing by inches. A low grunted "ow" was enough to let Kaoru know she was alright, at least. Best to ask anway, just in case.
You alright? He asked, in his low tenor.

Fine. the female said, blushing to the ground. She scanned what appeared to the winter anubite as an abyss of nothingness, before lifting her head slowly and looking beyond her.
I sure hope we can get back to your birds if I get us lost. Qadesh said roughly, taking a few -very cautious- steps forward into what she thought to be a small collection of trees. Qa kept her delicate black nose in the air, though trees had no smell either, but she figured it would hurt less if her nose hit the tree instead.

Kaoru sighed a little, and shrugged even though he knew she wouldn't be able to see it. He started walking, following the rough pawsteps of Qa. Blue eyes widened, body tensed every other second as the anubite thought he saw them in the shadows. Oni and Hellcat. He wondered where they were now, if his old tribe was safe. Gauze. Gauze and Macabre and Runihura and Tooru. He was seized with the impulse to turn and run, leave Qa to take care of the birds and find his friends and his family. His son Hellcat, the traitor and his daughter Oni who had been told nothing but lies since her mother died . . .
The impulse departed when Kaoru stubbed his paw on a rock, bringing him back solidly into the present.

Qa occasionally would look back to see if she could make out the outline of the midnight brute, even though it looked like he wasn't there.
The fae was now walking in what looked like a march that a horse would do. Qa feared she would get hurt, or trip, or something of the sort. She wanted nothing to do with pain at the moment. Even though it was impossible for her, she attempted to concentrate on finding at least a large puddle of water, or something. Anything.

Again, the pale eyes scanned the landscape, and again he was dissapointed. Kaoru sighed in frusttation, irately tossing his dial to look in the opposite direction. Narrow eyes became wide, then narrowed again. Squinting, the dark-furred anubite shifted himself to face squarely in that particular direction. Qa, I think we found it. They better have, after all the trouble they'd gone through.
Kaoru stepped forward cautiously, hearing the crunch and crackle of dried grass underfoot. There could be no mistake, the lake was just up ahead. They should have known, he realized; fireflies loved water.
Yeah, it's this way! Over here!

Qa's heartbeat increased, with the excitement, and she rushed over to where she heard the brute's voice. Oh thank the gods... she said under her voice. She continued to trot over until she accidentally brushed up against Kaoru, apologizing, and then stepping away from him.
She inhaled, and then said, Kaoru, lead the way. ooc|| sorry...short post ^ ^;

Right, just follow in my pawprints! He replied, started to edge towards the faintly gleaming surface. Fireflies zoomed over it, illuminated it with their pretty orange-yellow glow. Suddenly, a few yards forward Kaoru felt the ground suck in on itself under his feet, sinking into the sun-warmed mud a few inches. He pulled each black velvet paw free with a sucking sound, and walked closer to the water's edge. Unfortunately, it wasn't illuminated like the deep water the fireflies were drifting over. With a small splash he stepped into the shallow, blissfully warm pool's edge.
Sighing with gratitude, he padded in until up to his flanks, then pushed off and slid fully into the pool. Paddling slowly, the anubite pushed into the deep center and felt the warm water massage his burnt back and cleanse sweaty, dirty, muddy fur.
This feels really, reaaaaally greaaaaat. he sighed, floating amidst the reeds.

ooc|| aaaahhhh I'm sorry Kiyo x_x;;;; my posting is sooo delayed ^ ^;; Qa heard Kaoru's noises of pleasure and grinned widely. She approached the water and dipped her paw in to find it was warm, but not that bad. Calmly, she emerged herself in the heavenly bath, sighing pleasantly and paddling around in the middle of it. The ivory fae could feel the dirt and sand slip off her as easy as anything, and this made her feel lighter and so much better than before.
Qa inhaled deeply before dunking her head in momentarily. Nothing could wreck this blissful moment.
Thank you so much for finding this Kaoru! She groaned.
