Oh, said Vidar. He saw the mouth of the cave after Marie pointed it out to him. Well... if its too cold I'm sure we could find other ways to stay warm. Vidar grinned. He then bounded a few steps forward in the deepening snow. I bet I can beat you there, said the wolf facing her with his upper body low to the ground and his haunches raised playfully up in the air. His tail swung back and forth rapidly. Rather than waiting for Marie's response Vidar took off in the direction of the cave.

Marie blushed, but shook her head and smiled as she padded quickly through the deep snow. Closing her eyes tightly, she began to sprint towards their destination, and it drew nearer and nearer with every freezing step into the sugary ground, with the delicate snowflakes hitting her harder as she approached their shelter.
She reached the cave finally, panting fairly hard. Maire stopped as she reached it, but lost control because of all the waxy ice underneath her. Marie slammed into a wall with her delicate bodes, making the sword-like icicles above her shake with surprise. Marie was frozen with fear.

Vidar laughed loudly, and ran full speed at the cave. He lost control of his long legs for a second and went sprawling onto the cold ice plateau. He listened for Marie's pretty laughter, but she had grown quiet. He got up and trotted in a smal panic towards the mouth of the cave. Vidar's eyes searched the cave and found Marie huddled up against the far wall. He looked up to see what she was starting at and saw the huge icicles threatening to fall on them both. Marie, he whispered tensely. Try to get out of the cave. Very slowly. He hoped she wouldn't panic and run.

Motionless and terrified, Marie stood in what seemed like a battle-ready stance. Her emerald eyes followed the terrifyingly sharp icicles as they began to slow down their swaying.
Vidar's voice finally reached her and she looked down at him for the first time in what seemed like an hour or two. A silent tear ran down her freezing cheek as she began to slowly move towards Vidar's caring face. She tried not to look upwards at the ceiling, only at Him, but she noticed something in his eyes that looked like her father....and she smiled.
She was unwarned and totally surprised as a single small icicle dropped near her. It shattered immediately, and upon hearing this noise, Marie yelped like a puppy and ran towards Vidar quickly. She huddled her face in his chest and whimpered quietly as a small cut on her front leg pushed out a bead of crimson liquid.

Vidar sighed in relief when Marie reached him. He saw her small wound, but she seemed physically okay. He nuzzled her as she buried her face in his chest. Are you alright?, he asked, stepping away to get a better look at her. Vidar shook violently, partly because of the cold but mostly because of his nerves. Do you want to try and find another cave?

Marie didn't realize her actions when she was afraid, but she sat where she was. She was cold, and her leg ached, but other than that she was fine where she was.
We need to find something to knock those icicles down. I don't think there's another cave for a long while anyway.
Marie lifted up her leg and licked the already dried blood. She looked down at the floor for a second as her stomach twisted again, that feeling never went away....
Thank you.

Hmmm, mumbled Vidar. His eyes scanned the vast plateau for anything they could use to knock down the icicles. I don't see anything at all. Do you? Vidar walked to the side of the cave and peered into the mouth. We might be able to get in without disturbing them, he said, nodding his head up at the icicles.

She squinted as she looked around the freezing shelter. She remembered what she had done a while ago, and said I think I have an Idea. She looked up at Vidar, noticed how close she was to him, blushed, and moved away slightly.
It's probably really risky. She scanned her plan over in her mind at least three times, and looked over to where she hit herself on the cave wall. She blinked, and asked, turning her head back to Vidar,
How fast are you on ice?

I'm pretty quick......but I won't be able to stop once I get going. You might also have noticed that I'm not very graceful. I fall. And knock things over. A lot. But I'll try whatever you had in mind. Vidar tilted his head and looked at Marie, waiting eagerly for any instructions she would give him.

Marie looked down at the transparent ice, her eyebrows furrowed, and she looked back up at Vidar. Her expression calmed and she walked to face the frozen walls, and looked up at the icicles. Turning back around, she explained,
Well I was thinking that you, or I, could run into the wall like I did, and run quickly out again o that the icicles fall and shatter, but I just think it would be better to find another cave.
By now, Marie had become accustomed to that feeling, and it erupted inside her as she looked into his eyes, but as long as they were together, the way she felt didn't matter. As long as he was there.

Yeah, we should probably find another place to stay. That plan sounds kind of....scary. Vidar added quickly, No offense or anything. He began to walk slowly with Marie in the direction of the other caves. So.... do you belong to a tribe or anything? Vidar had strong feelings for the white femme beside him, but he still knew little about her. He wanted desperately to know more.

Marie trotted over beside Vidar, her neck streight. She was watching her paws as she replied, Well, Not exactly.
She walked out the cave door to find that the blizzard had gone down quite a bit, but snow was still rapidly falling despite the lack of wind. Barely being able to even see her paws anymore, she raised her head. the falling snow looked like millions of white roses losing their pedals rapidly.
My parents were exiled from both of their tribes, and then after I was born they were taken away by...aliens. Or, that's at least what I saw.

Oh. Aliens, said Vidar, looking at Marie thoughtfully. He wondered if the aliens who had taken her parents were the same ones he had heard stories about as a pup. The aliens Vidar knew of were very tall creatures that always walked on their hind legs and barely had any fur. How did you get along without your parents when you were so young?, he asked. The large brown manen walked with his wings folded up at his sides. He saw the black hole that was the mouth of the cave grow nearer and nearer. His big paws ached from the hard ground and the numbing cold made them sting.

Marie smiled and blinked at the bright snow. She looked at Vidar through the side of her emerald eye. She swallowed and said, her voice shaking slightly, Wonderfully. We all got along so well....
Maire stepped in a swerve, her side touching Vidar's. She smiled even more. Marie paused than said, looking up at him, What about you, Vidar?

Vidar smiled when she moved close, her white fur rubbing up against him. Well, he said with his eyes looking up at the sky. I have two sisters but my mom was killed when I was only a few days old. I guess I'm lucky that I don't remember her murder. My father and some others were forced to leave the pack because of this whole ordeal that they had been part of..... It had mostly to do with my parents mating without the permission of the Alpha. Vidar paused, thinking fondly of his former surrogate family. So, he continued, all of the outcast wolves kind of banded together and I grew up with them as my family. After a while everybody separated, and my sisters and I stayed with my father. When my wings started to come in, my sisters and I left my father to find our own places. Vidar looked down at his paws as he walked. Snow crunched under him with each step. He suddenly looked over at Marie apologetically and said, Sorry. Was I just rambling on?
